We have to realise that cosmetic products are applied usually directly on the body, skin, around the eyes and on intimate areas etc. Do we know what is behind the production system and in those beautiful boxes and bottles? At the moment, requirements of legal regulations are becoming stricter in whole of the European Union and they come close to the requirements on pharmaceutical products in some aspects.

Quality requirements

Certification of good manufacturing practice in cosmetic industry (GMP) according to EN ISO 22716:2007 is a system certification that includes a whole system ranging from purchasing raw materials, production, hygiene, quality control, packaging selection, storage, staff, waste management, to claims and market withdrawals.

Production of cosmetics

This certification allows a company to have an effective quality control system set up in all phases of production process, it improves control, identification and increases performance and strengthens credibility of the manufacturer’s organisation. It defines clear responsibilities and information flows in the organisation. It applies a well-known and simple feedback methodology in the whole process of production practice. Manufacturers have already implemented many principles of the standard and they might not even know that those are the principles of EN ISO 22716:2007. The certification tells the customers that the manufacturer is able to systematically manage and control production, monitor individual substances, raw materials and agents from purchase up to a finished product. Manage production risks, control raw materials with respect to set criteria for safety, use in cosmetics etc. In addition to that, a certified company has an effective system for addressing claims. With certification under LL-C (Certification), you get not only appreciation from an international independent control and certification organisation, but particularly the opinion of the most experienced qualified auditors from the field with extensive work experience and knowledge of not only legal regulations, but also from laboratories and other related fields. The result is an independent external opinion that aims not only to confirm compliance with the standard, but also to uncover weak and critical points where quality and safety may be threatened.
